Chevron, BP Strike $8M Settlement In Colo. Pollution Case

By Stephanie Russell-Kraft (September 17, 2013, 2:31 PM EDT) -- The state of Colorado asked a federal judge Monday to approve a $7.76 million settlement with the U.S. government, Chevron Corp., BP PLC, Exxon Mobil Corp. and others over alleged pollution at a former mining and metallurgical research center in Golden, Colo.

Colorado simultaneously filed a complaint and proposed consent decree in Colorado federal court, alleging that the thousands of research products conducted by the defendants at the site between 1912 and 1987 caused the release of harmful substances.
