Oil, Gas Groups' Suit Over Drilling In Pa. Nat'l Forest Tossed
Law360, Philadelphia (February 25, 2014, 1:56 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania federal judge on Friday put an end to a lawsuit brought by two oil and gas industry groups that challenged restrictions on drilling in a national forest, concluding that the U.S. Forest Service had already put the contested provisions on hold.
U.S. District Judge Mark Hornak concluded that the Pennsylvania Oil and Gas Association's attack on the 2007 rules governing drilling in Allegheny National Forest was moot because the USFS had backed away from putting them into effect.
"The court concludes that no justiciable case or controversy remains," Judge Hornak said in the opinion.
