EU Moves Closer To New Bloc-Wide Crowdfunding Rules
Law360, London (June 26, 2019, 5:27 PM BST) -- European lawmakers floated new rules on Wednesday to make it easier for businesses and investors to ask the public to fund their projects, bringing the European Union a step closer to forging a common set of rules for national regulators overseeing crowdfunding.
The European Council has proposed draft laws that would set the minimum standards that crowdfunding platforms would have to meet across the EU. Rather than complying with different regulatory regimes, crowdfunding platforms would have to conform with one set of minimum requirements, regardless of which country they operate in.
