MINUTE ORDER (Text Only Entry) The Court's standing order provides that "[b]efore filing a motion in a case in which the parties are represented by counsel, counsel shall engage in a pre-filing meet and confer to discuss thoroughly the substance of the contemplated motion and any potential resolution.... The notice of motion shall contain a certification by counsel filing the motion that meet and confer efforts have been exhausted, with a very brief summary of meet and confer efforts." (Doc. 4 -1 (emphasis in original).) It appears that the recently filed motion to remand (Doc. 7 ) fails to comply with this requirement. Pre-filing meet and confer efforts are required by the undersigned to conserve the scarce resources of this overburdened court and are therefore not optional. Within seven days of the date of this order, the parties shall engage in meaningful meet and confer in person or via teleconference or telephone (i.e., not by email or other form of message exchange). Within seven days of the meet and confer, movant shall either file a declaration indicating whether the parties were able to resolve the disputes as to any or all issues in the case, and, if appropriate, shall withdraw or modify the motion. To accommodate this process, the opposition and reply deadlines are continued by 14 days. Failure to timely comply with this order may result in the motion being denied for failure to comply with a court order. In addition, as the standing order indicates, the motion will be decided on the papers pursuant to Local Rule 230(g) thus any hearing is VACATED. The parties are warned that due to the extraordinary workload of this District, civil cases are experiencing significant delays signed by District Judge Jennifer L. Thurston on September 21, 2026.
