Order on Motion to Amend Scheduling Order
ORDER granting 173 Joint Oral Motion to Amend Scheduling Order. On 9/11/26, the Court conducted a telephone conference to discuss scheduling. Plaintiffs appeared through counsel William Skepnek and Quentin Marc Templeton. Defendant Douglas County, Kansas, Board of Commissioners appeared through counsel Michelle R. Stewart. Defendant Dr. Erik Mitchell appeared through counsel Cory R. Buck and Makaylah L. Jones. After discussion, the Court made the following orders: 1) The deposition of Defendant Mitchell's expert, Dr. Gregory Schmunk, shall be conducted on 10/1/26 and Defendant Mitchell shall pay for the cost of an expedited deposition transcript; 2) Discovery, for the sole purpose of taking the deposition of Defendant Mitchell's expert and any written discovery requests resulting therefrom is extended to 10/23/26. Any written discovery request issued before 10/23/26 must be served in time for a response due date no later than the close of discovery; and 3) The proposed pretrial order, pretrial conference, dispositive/Daubert motion, and trial date deadlines remain the same.
