ORDER Signed by the Honorable Jeffrey I Cummings on 3/16/2026. Mailed notice (cc, ) (Entered: 03/16/2026)
Minute
MINUTE entry before the Honorable Jeffrey I Cummings: This case has been re-assigned to the calendar of Judge Jeffrey I. Cummings and the Court has reviewed plaintiffs' motion to revive judgment 288 , seeking to revive the previous judgments entered by this Court. "The life of a judgment issued by a federal district court is determined by the law of the state jurisdiction wherein the federal court is located." Belkin v. Islamic Republic of Iran, No. CV 06-0711 (PLF), 2020 WL 4219783, at *2 (D.D.C. July 23, 2020) (citing Fed.R.Civ.P. 69(a)(1)). "Under Illinois law, a judgment is good for seven years, but it can be revived... within twenty years of the date of judgment." Suraleb, Inc. v. Prod. Ass'n "Minsk Tractor Works," Republic of Belarus, No. 06 C 3496, 2014 WL 238300, at *1 (N.D.Ill. Jan. 21, 2014). The entry "of a reviving order should be a clerical task; all it entails is assurance that the judgment has not been vacated or marked satisfied since its rendition." TDK Electronics Corp. v. Draiman, 321 F.3d 677, 680 (7th Cir. 2003). Here, the judgments plaintiffs seek to revive were entered within the past twenty years and there is no indication they have been satisfied or discharged. Accordingly, the Court grants plaintiffs' motion to revive judgment 288 as set forth in the accompanying Order. In light of this order, plaintiffs' counsel's motion to appear remotely 290 is denied without prejudice as moot. Mailed notice (cc, ) (Entered: 03/16/2026)
