1 Firm Edged Peers As June IPO Market Exploded

By Tom Zanki (July 1, 2021, 10:18 PM EDT) -- Davis Polk & Wardwell LLP leaped ahead of other law firms in initial public offering activity based on the number of deals in June, a scorching month for new issuances that kept capital markets practices unusually busy.

At least 95 companies went public in June, raising more than $29 billion in proceeds, according to IPO data tracked by Nasdaq and research firm Renaissance Capital. The tally includes both operating businesses and special purpose acquisition companies, or SPACs, which are shell entities that raise money in IPOs and then hunt for acquisitions.
