Opioid Legislation May Expand Telehealth Coverage

Law360 (May 15, 2018, 2:58 PM EDT) -- Lawmakers are considering a broad range of bills designed to address opioids and are aiming to pass legislation during the summer to demonstrate action before the midterm elections. Key committees in both the House and Senate have now advanced legislative packages on opioids. Several of the proposals under consideration include changes to telehealth coverage and reimbursement policies. Given broad interest in the opioid abuse problem and growing public pressure for action, Congress may likely enact legislation on opioids, including these telehealth changes, in the coming months....
