By Dietrich Knauth (August 22, 2011, 4:43 PM EDT) -- Ten states and the District of Columbia filed briefs Friday in support of the federal health care reform law, opposing a challenge by Missouri's lieutenant governor in the Eighth Circuit.
California Attorney General Kamala D. Harris, who was joined by the attorneys general of Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Iowa, Maryland, New York, Oregon, Vermont and the District of Columbia, said the controversial Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act strengthens states' abilities to address national health care problems that they cannot solve effectively on their own.
