Proposed UK Law Would Send Negligent Doctors To Jail

By Juan Carlos Rodriguez (November 19, 2013, 2:40 PM EST) -- In response to a scandal at a U.K. National Health Service hospital at which patients were subjected to "appalling" conditions and treatment, the British government on Tuesday proposed a new law that would create jail sentences for willfully negligent doctors and nurses.

The legislation is meant to correct problems at Stafford Hospital in central England, where, according to The Associated Press, hundreds of patients died unnecessarily from 2005 to 2009.
