Meat Supplier Must Cover Sizzler In E. Coli Suit, Court Says

Law360, New York (July 2, 2012, 7:44 PM EDT) -- The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Friday affirmed that a meat supplier responsible for an E. coli outbreak that killed a 3-year-old girl owes Sizzler USA Franchise Inc. more than $7.1 million but needn't reimburse an insurer's payments on behalf of a franchisee.

After 12 years of litigation stemming from damages sustained after E. coli was found at two Sizzler restaurants in the Milwaukee area, Wisconsin's highest court found that Sizzler was entitled to consequential damages from Excel Corp.'s breach of implied warranties of its meat supply...
