Embattled Judge's Defamation Suit Against Law Firms Tossed

By Carolina Bolado (February 21, 2014, 6:56 PM EST) -- A Florida judge under investigation by the state's Judicial Qualifications Commission over her involvement as an attorney in a $14.5 million settlement with an insurer lost her defamation case against former co-counsel Thursday when a judge deemed her complaint a sham.

Judge Beatrice Butchko granted a motion to strike Judge Laura Watson's complaint against her former co-counsel in the insurance action, firms Stewart Tilghman Fox Bianchi & Cain PA and Todd S. Stewart PA and attorneys Larry S. Stewart and William C. Hearon.
