Trump Floats More Support For Farmers In US-China Quarrel

Law360 (May 14, 2019, 6:44 PM EDT) -- As the White House begins considering whether to set tariffs on nearly every product imported from China, President Donald Trump on Tuesday continued to lay the groundwork for more government funds to be provided to farmers hit hardest by Beijing's retaliatory duties.

Trump has accelerated his tariff push against China with two separate moves in recent days. On Friday he raised from 10% to 25% the most recent duties on roughly $200 billion worth of Chinese imports, and on Monday he proposed a new 25% levy on more than $300 billion in additional merchandise.
