LNG Export Delays Could Hamstring US Cos., Republicans Say

Law360, Washington (March 19, 2013, 7:27 PM EDT) -- Republican members of the House Oversight Committee on Tuesday urged the U.S. Department of Energy to quicken its review of pending liquefied natural gas export applications, claiming its sluggish process could hamper American producers from gaining traction in the global market.

While several proposed LNG export facilities await DOE consideration and approval, Rep. James Lankford, R-Okla., claimed other countries are already constructing their own projects and are well on their way to winning long-term contracts as U.S. competitors can't take advantage of their purported technological advances.
