Aussie Regulator's Food Safety System Is Comparable: FDA

Law360, New York (April 20, 2017, 2:28 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Wednesday announced that it has signed an agreement with an Australian regulator recognizing each other’s food safety systems as comparable, a move the Australian government has said will make its exporters preferred suppliers of safe food to the U.S.

According to a statement from the FDA on Wednesday, by recognizing its system as comparable to that of the Australian Department of Agriculture and Water Resources, the countries can leverage each other’s regulatory systems to help ensure food safety. In...
