Syngenta Looks To Nix Farmers' Claims In 1st GMO Corn Trial

Law360, New York (June 15, 2017, 4:23 PM EDT) -- Agricultural giant Syngenta AG urged a Kansas federal judge on Wednesday to toss without jury deliberation allegations brought by corn producers in multidistrict litigation over the company’s alleged role in China’s rejection of U.S. corn shipments.

This first trial in the MDL began June 5 and will test the negligence claims of four Kansas farmers representing 7,000 others who believe that Syngenta rushed the pest-resistant Viptera seed to market in 2010, willfully ignoring the importance of Chinese regulatory approval.
