PTAB Is Keeping Busy In The Wake Of COVID-19

Law360 (August 6, 2020, 7:53 PM EDT) -- As the nation continues to fight the COVID-19 crisis, the Patent Trial and Appeal Board is seeing an uptick in new cases and the number of patents being challenged before the board, according to a new report by Lex Machina.

Looking at the petitions filed with the PTAB from May, June and July, Lex Machina found that the numbers are up from the same period in 2019. While May had a 19% increase in petitions compared to that month last year, June and July each saw a roughly 40% spike in new filings.
