Senate Set To Vote Yes On Patent Reform Bill

By Ryan Davis (September 2, 2011, 2:27 PM EDT) -- More than six years after Congress began efforts to reform the U.S. patent system, the Senate is scheduled to vote Tuesday on the America Invents Act, a bill expected to usher in significant changes to patent practice.

The Senate approved a version of the legislation in March, but will now vote on the House of Representatives' version, which passed in June by a vote of 304-117. The cloture vote is expected Tuesday, with the vote on the bill to follow.
