Shark Photographer Snaps At Wal-Mart Over Photo Use

Law360, New York (October 11, 2011, 6:30 PM EDT) -- An award-winning underwater photographer slapped retailer Wal-Mart Stores Inc. and two suppliers with a copyright infringement suit in South Carolina on Friday, alleging they unlawfully used one of his shark photos for a design on a bathing suit.

LeRoy French Sr. alleges Wal-Mart and clothing companies Iconix Brand Group Inc. and Studio Ray LLC designed and sold an Ocean Pacific shark-themed bathing suit using one of his copyrighted photos of a great white shark.
