Obama Calls For $3.1B USPTO Budget, Full Access To Fees

By Ryan Davis (April 10, 2013, 5:25 PM EDT) -- President Barack Obama's proposed 2014 spending plan released Wednesday calls for the budget of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to be increased to $3.071 billion for the office to be able to keep all of the fees it collects.

The proposal represents an increase in the patent office's budget for the current fiscal year of $2.746 billion, although that number is tentative because the amount of fees collected by the office and the extent of any cuts because of the sequester are not yet final.
