USPTO Plans 'Significant' Budget Cuts Due To Sequester
By Ryan Davis (April 19, 2013, 7:49 PM EDT) -- The head of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office told employees Thursday that the agency will have to make "immediate and significant" budget cuts due to lower-than-expected fee revenue and the congressionally mandated budget cuts known as the sequester.
In an email to employees, acting USPTO Director Teresa Stanek Rea said the office faces "substantial budgetary uncertainty" making it "essential that we act now to further reduce spending."
