ITC Launches Probe Of Imported Sleep Aid Devices

Law360, New York (April 26, 2013, 2:26 PM EDT) -- The U.S. International Trade Commission has voted to investigate allegations by ResMed Corp. of California that medical devices Apex Medical Corp. and Medical Depot Inc. are importing from Asia infringe several of its patents, the commission announced Friday.

The ITC decided to look into accusations, filed in late March, that six products manufactured by Taiwan-based Apex Medical designed to treat breathing disorders, especially obstructive sleep apnea, infringe seven patents held by San Diego-based ResMed.
