High Court Won't Hear Voting Machine Patent Suit

Law360, New York (June 10, 2013, 2:14 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to consider reviving Voter Verified Inc.'s patent suit against its ballot-counting rivals, rejecting the company's request that the justices establish full liability for all types of so-called divided infringement.

In asking the court to take up the case, Voter Verified had argued that it needed broaden the recent Akamai ruling in the Federal Circuit, which said that a party can be held liable for induced infringement even if no single entity carried out each step of the patent....
