'Patent Troll' Bill Could Be Voted On Next Week, Sens Say

By Ryan Davis (March 27, 2014, 3:24 PM EDT) -- Members of the Senate Judiciary Committee said Thursday that they are optimistic that a bill aimed at cracking down on so-called patent trolls can be voted on next week, despite differences among lawmakers about whether the measure goes too far or not far enough.

Judiciary Committee Chairman Patrick Leahy, D-Vt., who introduced the main bill under consideration, said at a committee meeting that he is working with several senators who have introduced competing bills to craft a comprehensive measure that can be marked up by the committee next week.
