Coons Calls For AIA Overhaul To Lower Patent 'Kill Rate'

By Ryan Davis (June 3, 2015, 8:19 PM EDT) -- Sen. Chris Coons, D-Del., said at an event Wednesday that the America Invents Act review system is rendering too many patents invalid and must be overhauled to ensure continued investment in new technology and keep the U.S. patent system strong.

Coons delivered the keynote address at an event in Washington, D.C., sponsored by the Duke Law Center for Innovation Policy to examine the impact of the AIA review proceedings that began in 2012. The Senate Judiciary Committee, of which Coons is a member, is scheduled to mark up a patent bill on Thursday that includes many changes to AIA reviews....
