Software Co. Loses IP Review Bid After Late PTAB Petition

Law360, Los Angeles (June 13, 2016, 8:16 PM EDT) -- The Patent and Trial Appeal Board has refused software company Plaid Technologies' request to review a patent over internet portals that it allegedly infringed, finding that Plaid missed a one-year window even though PTAB's online system supposedly froze.

Denying Plaid's motion to change the filing date according to its petition for inter partes review, PTAB ruled in a Thursday decision that the petition to review Yodlee Inc.'s patent was time-barred because Plaid intentionally delayed in completing the petition.
