Cleveland Clinic Revives Heart-Disease Test Patent Row

Law360, New York (February 22, 2017, 6:38 PM EST) -- The Cleveland Clinic Foundation on Tuesday continued its push to block True Health Diagnostics LLC from using a test for cardiovascular disease that the foundation discovered, claiming in Virginia federal court that True Health infringed one of its patents.

The complaint alleges that True Health is infringing U.S. Patent No. 9,575,065 — which is owned by the foundation and licensed exclusively to co-plaintiff Cleveland HeartLab Inc. — by using myeloperoxidase testing, which assesses cardiovascular disease risk by analyzing blood vessel inflammation.
