China Drove Worldwide IP Growth In 2016, Study Finds

Law360, New York (December 6, 2017, 9:53 PM EST) -- China dominated worldwide intellectual property growth in 2016 as filings for patents, trademarks and industrial designs throughout the globe set records, according to an annual report by the World Intellectual Property Organization.

China received more patent applications than the combined total for the U.S., the European Patent Office, Japan and South Korea, according to the WIPO, which attributes 98 percent of the growth in the sector from 2015 to 2016 to IP activity in the Asian nation.
