Law Firms 'Leading The Way' On Parental Benefits In 2019

By Danielle Nichole Smith (January 1, 2020, 12:04 PM EST) -- Law firms continued updating their parental benefit offerings in 2019, with many putting in place gender-neutral policies that give attorneys more time to bond with children and flexibility around their leave.

As was the case in 2018, firms removed gender and caregiver distinctions from their policies and upped the amount of leave time for attorneys and, in some cases, nonlawyer staff. Firms also continued to introduce more options for lawyers by formalizing policies that allow them to reduce their hours around the time they take parental leave.
