Average BigLaw Partner Compensation Soars Past $1M

By Justin Wise (December 15, 2020, 7:24 AM EST) -- Average compensation for those at the highest ranks of BigLaw has surpassed $1 million for the first time, and partners no longer expect the financial woes they feared when they braced for economic losses due to COVID-19, according to a new survey.

The findings, released Tuesday by legal search firm Major Lindsey & Africa, showed that the average income for U.S. partners was just over $1 million in 2019, marking a 10% increase from 2018 and a 20% jump since 2016.
