Newbie Lawyers A Bigger Ethics Risk Than Deceit, Judges Say

Law360, New York (August 10, 2017, 9:29 PM EDT) -- Green attorneys and ignorance of local rules are more pressing threats to the legal system than lawyers who intentionally disregard their ethical obligations, a panel of New York state and federal judges said Thursday.

And while local rule infractions — futzing with line spacing to duck a filing page limit, for example — and more serious problems aren't unheard of, the judiciary is, by and large, more concerned about attorneys' basic skill set than blatant conduct breaches.
