Federal Prosecutor Took His Own Life, Fla. Police Say

Law360, New York (August 11, 2017, 6:20 PM EDT) -- The Hollywood Police Department said investigators have determined that an assistant U.S. attorney for the Southern District of Florida found dead on a Hollywood, Florida, beach earlier this year took his own life, according to Thursday news reports.

Police detectives and the medical examiner concluded that Beranton J. Whisenant Jr., 37, died in late May because of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head.
