Law360, New York (April 9, 2012, 8:23 PM EDT) -- The former vice president of medical device company Orthofix International NV on Monday pled guilty in Massachusetts federal court to paying a surgeon tens of thousands of dollars in kickbacks to prescribe the company's bone-growth stimulators.
Thomas P. Guerrieri, 51, the former vice president of sales at Orthofix, was convicted of facilitating a consulting agreement with a New York surgeon in which the company paid the unnamed doctor thousands of dollars for services that were never rendered so that the surgeon would prescribe Orthofix's Spinal-Stim and Cervical-Stim products.
