Labaton Sucharow Pro Bono Team Secures 2 Asylum Grants
By Nicole Narea (November 21, 2018, 4:00 PM EST) -- In their first foray into immigration law, pro bono lawyers from Labaton Sucharow LLP recently secured asylum grants for a Pakistani persecuted on account of his Shia faith and a Ugandan targeted for his sexual orientation.
The petitioners, who requested anonymity for safety reasons, were freed from detention in October following hearings before immigration judges who found that they had "credible fear" of persecution in their home countries.
