FTC Targets Gigats In First Education-Lead Generator Action

By Joyce Hanson (April 28, 2016, 6:49 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Federal Trade Commission has hit operators of Gigats.com with the agency's first enforcement action against an education lead generator, charging the so-called "pre-screening" website with steering job applicants to post-secondary schools and career training programs rather than employment opportunities, the FTC said Thursday.

Operators for Gigats.com gathered online job postings by companies and government agencies and summarized them on their website, which appeared to accept applications for the jobs when in fact many of the job openings were not current, according to the FTC's complaint.
