Swiss Regulator Announces Data Privacy Deal With Microsoft

Law360, New York (January 11, 2017, 1:40 PM EST) -- Switzerland’s data privacy czar has reached an agreement with Microsoft on improvements to Windows 10 privacy features, it said Wednesday, warning other companies that the solution represented a “minimum standard” for them to follow.

The problem arose with the operating system’s noncompliance with regulations that cover data protection. Two key arrays of settings in Windows 10, pages called “Customize settings” and “Quick access,” didn’t offer a level of transparency that would meet regulator requirements, the Swiss Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner, or FDPIC, said....
