Deals Rumor Mill: Abercrombie, Unity, Stada

By Chelsea Naso (May 24, 2017, 6:41 PM EDT) -- Cerberus Capital Management is said to be preparing a bid for teen apparel maker Abercrombie & Fitch Co. alongside American Eagle Outfitters, potentially giving American Eagle an edge in the sales process for its struggling rival, The Wall Street Journal reported on Wednesday. The structure of the deal proposed by the pair was not immediately clear, but a combination of the private equity firm's cash and the ability to realize cost savings by combining with a fellow retailer could help the bid beat out the others, the report noted.
