FDA Announces $32.5M In Funds For Produce Safety

Law360 (July 12, 2018, 4:50 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday announced $32.5 million in funding for 46 states as part of an effort to implement standards for the safe growing and harvesting of produce under the Food Safety Modernization Act.

The FDA said it had entered into new cooperative agreements with three states — Hawaii, Kentucky and Mississippi — and renewed agreements with 43 others, as part of carrying out FSMA’s produce safety rule, which lays out science-based minimum standards for produce grown for human consumption.
