Ky. Demands $7M From Shipping Co. For Bridge Damage

Law360, New York (January 3, 2013, 7:41 PM EST) -- Foss Maritime Co. is facing more than $7.2 million in claims from Kentucky state transportation officials and others to cover damage caused by a Foss cargo ship colliding with a bridge over the Tennessee River, according to court documents filed Thursday.

The Kentucky Transportation Cabinet alleges that the crew of Foss' M/V Delta Mariner ship ignored warnings to proceed with caution near the Eggners Ferry Bridge in the southwest corner of the state because of lighting problems, and should pay for $7.1 million in repair costs...
