Insurers Want To Curb Expert Testimony In Asbestos Suit

Law360, New York (July 30, 2015, 6:31 PM EDT) -- Insurers including OneBeacon America Insurance Co. and insulation contractors and distributors The McCarty Corp. and Eagle Inc. sought Thursday to block testimony by the plaintiffs' expert in a suit from the family of a former shipyard worker who died of asbestos-related cancer.

In a filing in Louisiana federal court, the companies sought to exclude the specific causation testimony of Stephen Terry Kraus, a radiation oncologist, who is seeking to testify on behalf of the family of Sally Gros Vedros, who died from mesothelioma in June 2011.
