FDA Says Fla. Pharmacy Is Not Properly Sterilizing Equipment

Law360, New York (August 10, 2017, 6:08 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Food and Drug Administration on Thursday warned doctors and patients against using purportedly sterile products from a Florida pharmacy because they might not have been properly disinfected.

A recent inspection of Vital Rx Inc., which does business as Atlantic Pharmacy and Compounding in Pompano Beach, identified unsanitary conditions, and the agency said doctors and patients should consequently quarantine any products from Atlantic Pharmacy claiming to be sterile, as using unsterile products could result in life-threatening infections or death.
