Trump To Declare Opioid Crisis A National Emergency

Law360, New York (August 10, 2017, 7:53 PM EDT) -- President Donald Trump on Thursday said he would designate the opioid crisis a national emergency and promised “a lot of money” to address the matter, accepting a recommendation that he had rejected just two days earlier. 

Speaking at the Trump National Golf Club in New Jersey, Trump vowed stronger action to tackle the epidemic of opioid abuse, which includes prescription drugs, such as oxycodone, and illicit narcotics, such as heroin.
