Veto Of NC Fracking Bill Overridden By Accidental Vote

Law360, New York (July 3, 2012, 5:28 PM EDT) -- A North Carolina lawmaker on Monday mistakenly cast the deciding vote to override a veto of legislation that will make hydraulic fracturing for oil and natural gas legal in the state.

Rep. Becky Carney, a Democrat who opposes fracking in North Carolina, hit the wrong button in a vote to override Gov. Bev Perdue’s veto of S.B. 820, which passed with just enough votes to become law, Carney’s office confirmed.
