USPTO To Change Patent Filing, Maintenance Rules

Law360, New York (October 18, 2013, 10:21 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office is set to publish a final rule in the Federal Register on Monday that would alter the procedures for filing and processing patent applications to align them with the conditions laid out in two treaties that the U.S. first agreed to more than 20 years ago.

The rule would change the filing date requirements for applications, amend how patentees can restore their patent rights and make other significant revisions to U.S. intellectual property laws. It will take effect Dec. 18...
