FTC Asks Walgreens, Rite Aid For Info On $17.2B Merger

Law360, New York (December 11, 2015, 7:22 PM EST) -- The Federal Trade Commission has asked Walgreen Boots Alliance Inc. and Rite Aid Corp. for additional information on their proposed $17.2 billion merger, the companies said in a joint statement on Friday.

The request, which the companies said is a standard part of the FTC’s review, will extend the Hart-Scott-Rodino Antitrust Improvements Act’s waiting period by 30 days after they have compiled the information.

That 30 days could be shortened by the FTC or voluntarily lengthened by the pharmacy chains, according to the statement.
