Pa. Rep Wants To Preempt Philly's Sweetened Beverage Tax

Law360, Philadelphia (December 6, 2017, 2:52 PM EST) -- A Pennsylvania Republican state representative on Wednesday announced plans to introduce legislation that would preempt Philadelphia's sweetened beverage tax, which went into effect in January and is being challenged in the state’s courts.

Rep. Mark Mustio, R-Allegheny, says his proposed bill would bar any municipality in the state from levying such a tax while also invalidating the current soda tax in Philadelphia.
