Innospec Can't Shake Antitrust Claims Over Iraq Bribery

Law360, New York (May 23, 2011, 4:05 PM EDT) -- A Virginia federal judge Friday rejected Innospec Inc.'s bid to cut state antitrust and conspiracy claims from a lawsuit filed by a rival after the fuel additive company admitted to paying bribes to Iraqi and Indonesian government officials in violation of U.S. anti-corruption laws.

U.S. District Judge Henry E. Hudson found that Innospec had enough contacts with the state of Virginia to warrant the application of the two Virginia statutes, pointing to six separate marketing and sales agreements with one of the plaintiffs, Afton Chemical Corp.,...
