Shareholder Activism Reached New Heights In 2014

By Zachary Zagger (February 2, 2015, 5:53 PM EST) -- Shareholder activists were more active than ever in 2014, with the number of companies targeted by activists growing to 344, compared to 291 in 2013, and signs point toward toward this trend continuing in 2015, according to a report released Activist Insight and Schulte Roth & Zabel LLP.

The number of companies subjected to public activist campaigns has more than doubled over the past five years, growing from 136 in 2010 to 344 last year, according to the "Activist Investing Annual Review 2015" report published by Activist Insight in association with Schulte Roth.
