BigLaw Fails To Bend To GC Billing Needs, Survey Says

By Suevon Lee (December 16, 2016, 8:38 PM EST) -- Corporate legal departments in 2016 had little faith in law firms to be change agents and drivers of innovation in a climate where departments are increasingly seeking cost-effective alternative fee arrangements, according to results of a survey recently published by Blickstein Group.

Legal departments want to see firms take a more proactive approach in suggesting alternatives to the billable hour, which in-house professionals don't see dissolving anytime soon, while their increasing reliance on alternative legal service providers for things like document review and contract management indicates their focus could be turning elsewhere, the survey results suggest.
