Regulators Focused On Bad Actor Brokers

Law360, New York (July 27, 2017, 8:32 PM EDT) -- Officials with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission and the Financial Industry Regulatory Authority said Thursday they’ll be keeping an eye on broker-dealers in high-risk areas and encouraged firms to help them root out bad brokers and protect investors.

Panelists from the SEC, FINRA and private practice discussed a host of issues Thursday at a conference for the National Compliance Outreach Program for Broker-Dealers, telling attendees that they’ll be using exams and enforcement to ensure rogue representatives don’t harm investors.
